alley finds

alley finds

in denver people seem to think that alleys double as goodwill drops/dumpsters. i'm assuming that is the same in every city but it is a thing here, especially in my neighborhood. while it can be annoying when there is a pile of someone's apartment blocking the road, we've found some really cool stuff over the years.

a tree stump end table, annie's bedside table, the full length mirror in our entryway. point is, it's not uncommon for one of us to get excited when we've found something cool. that happened today.

annie got home from telluride bluegrass and promptly proclaimed that we had to go grab a bookshelf from the alley. it was heavy. it took annie, our friend ainsley and i to get it. it was pretty dirty but had awesome shapes. i cleaned it up outside with water and vinegar and a sponge, lysol cleaner, and howard orange and beeswax furniture oil (it's the best and you can snag it here) and then we brought it in. welcome to the family, bookcase.

i styled it with things we already had like the vintage mirror. however, the 20l bucket the tomatoes are in and the fade to black baskets are some of my all time favorite ikea finds.
